Gracie stated at St Andrews Primary in Boothstown in Sept 2014. She had finished her treatment we were so pleased that she would be starting nursery class without any medication to hold her back. She loved it, and she loved her teacher, Mrs Platt, who is amazing and was so kind to her throughout this year and through the rest of the time she managed to get to school. (Mrs Platt is the one who gave Gracie the Madonna album Papa Don't Preach as a gift when she finished the year)

After nursery, Gracie did managed to get to school in between treatment, and I think because she didn't get to go that often, she loved it even more. I remember doing homework whilst she was hooked up to chemo machines so she didn't feel left out. She loved to learn, and loved everyone who helped her with this.

When Gracie passed, Mr Platt, the head teacher, was amazing. He had kept in regular contact with us all through tout Gracie's treatment and was always very supportive with whatever we needed. He arranged for the whole school to line the street when we passed on the way to the church and all the children gave Gracie a round of applause. He also spoke at the funeral, about Gracie and how she loved school, we are so very grateful for everything he and the school have done for our family.

It must have been do difficult for everyone at the school to go through losing a pupil. I admire the way Mr Platt has managed this, making sure that all Gracies teachers, friends and their parents were supported and cared for during a very difficult time.

There are so many people to thank from St Andrews for their support for Gracie over the three years she attended. To Mr Latham, Gracie's year One teacher, his first year as a qualified teacher, My Houghton, for playing and singing so beautifully at Gracie's service, Freddie's teachers, Mrs Squires and Mrs Duncan who made sure he was ok through the difficult times, Kitty and Caitlin, Gracie's reading buddies, she loved you both, all Gracie's classmates, who looked after her when she did come to school, and the rest of the staff there who always had an eye over Gracie to make sure she was ok.

I do feel that Gracie will always be remembered at school, by everyone who knew her. It is such a caring environment, and i am so pleased and thankful that both Freddie and Gracie were able to attend such a wonderful school.
